Steps For Choosing a Used Motorcycle

January 7th, 2010

If you want to buy used motorcycles, here are few useful tips that you can consider to choose the right motorcycle for your need.

Today, you can find so many options and so many models in the market. So it is important that you first make a complete list of all the features you need in your motorcycle. When you are searching for your used motorcycles, check whether used the motorcycles you are considering have all the features you need. Shortlist all the used motorcycles that have all the features you need.

Start comparing these used motorcycles in terms of the brand, model, age, mileage covered, condition etc. After comparing select the best used motorcycles. Here the motorcycles that have covered lesser number of miles should be preferred because they have been subjected to less usage. In other words, they are relatively new and the parts of such motorcycles would have been subjected to lesser wear and tear. You must also compare the cost of the motorcycles. You must pick the motorcycles that cost you less but with all the features you need. Before you make any kind of payments, you must make it a point to check the motorcycle in person so that you know what you are getting. Do not make your buying decision just based on the photos that you see online. Very often the photos you see are deceiving. The photos posted may not be the latest ones. You can save yourself from such doubts by personally checking the motorcycles.

Used Motorcycle Price And Quality

January 6th, 2010

Are you planning to buy a used motorcycle? Then you must know that buying a used motorcycle is very different from buying a brand new motorcycle. When you buy brand new motorcycles, the quality of all the motorcycles of a particular brand and model will be the same. This will not be the case with used motorcycles. Even if you consider used motorcycles that are bought on the same date, the condition of the each motorcycle will be different when you are buying it at a later date from the original owners. Each one has a different way of dealing with their motorcycles. Some people will use it extensively while others would have used it to a very minimal level. Some of them will take a very good care of their motorcycles while others will not provide even the basic maintenance required. Therefore, the condition of each motorcycle will be different when you buy used motorcycles.

You must always carefully consider these two factors one is price and the second factor is quality. People very often fail to prioritize these two factors correctly. Many of us put price on top of our priority list. Though price is one of the important factors, you must know that quality should be on top of your priority list while choosing your used motorcycles. You may get used motorcycles at bottom rock prices but they may have major repairs awaiting as soon as you buy them. This will ultimately increase the overall cost of your used motorcycle.

Searching for used motorcycles online

January 5th, 2010

The internet brings us a lot of benefits. With the help of the internet, we can now find just about anything we need without ever having to leave our home. The same applies to finding used motorcycles. Previously, we had to search the newspaper adverts and classifieds for used motorcycles now that is not the case anymore. In a matter of few clicks we can get hundreds of links to used motorcycles that are for sale.

Besides searching for individual listings of used motorcycles for sale, you can also search online for websites that sell used motorcycles and websites that allow the sellers to post their used motorcycle sale. By identifying such websites, you will be able to easily come across several used motorcycles from different owners in a single place. This will save you a considerable amount of time. When you choose such websites, you will also be able to compare various deals easily side by side.

You can also look for general directories that sell used items. Such websites will have a category for automobiles and subcategories for cars, motorcycles etc. These websites are again a good source for finding used motorcycles.

Whether you are using individual listings, specific websites for motorcycle listings, general directories of used items, you must make sure to personally inspect the vehicle before you make your decision. You should decide before careful review of the vehicle to ensure that you don’t end up being frustrated later.

Deciding between new motorcycles and used motorcycles

January 4th, 2010

Almost all of us go through this dilemma before buying our motorcycle, whether to buy a new motorcycle or a used motorcycle. The decision purely depends on your specific situation. You will have to carefully consider your personal financial condition before you make your decision. It goes without saying that new motorcycles will be lot more expensive than old motorcycles. So consider whether you will be able to afford the cost of a new motorcycle.

Secondly, even if you can afford a new motorcycle, you must check whether you need to really spend on a new motorcycle or whether you can manage with a used motorcycle. Most of us have cars and use motorcycles only as a secondary vehicle. So if you are going to use your motorcycle only as your secondary mode of transportation, then you can very well consider used motorcycles.

Thirdly, you must check whether you can get good used motorcycles. At times you will be able to buy used motorcycles at a very low price but you will be forced to spend a lot of money repairing them to bring it to functional level. The savings here would be very little. If you cannot find good used motorcycles that will really save you a lot of money, it is best to go for new motorcycles. However, if you can find a good source for used buying used motorcycles, then consider the savings as your priority. Always compare both options carefully taking enough time so that you will not rush into making a wrong decision.

Getting Ripped Off: Used Motorcycle Scams on the Rise

July 11th, 2008

It’s a sad fact of life but it’s one that we’ve all got to deal with when we do our business in cyberspace. There are many people who will rip you off when they can hide behind a monitor and never have to look you in the face. These flocks of Internet buzzards circle the world of used motorcycles. They wait for you to stop by and be taken by that unbelievable deal on a Honda RC174 that you thought would only ever race again on the concrete of your memories.

Firewall Wolves

Still, there’s no need to panic and shut your monitor off in favor of the local phone book’s Yellow Pages. You just need to know what you’re looking at online. Remember that places like www.usedmotorcycleforsale.ca are reputable and work hard to keep these firewall wolves from their door. However, some of the scammers out there have developed ways to separate you from your money without offering a good deal in return. There are things that you can learn to watch for, and while these thieves are numerous, they aren’t all that hard to spot.

A Scammer’s Stripes

Of course some of the biggest bunko artists deal in used motorcycles. Just because you can’t see the scammer’s stripes through the computer, that doesn’t mean there aren’t ways of identifying them. Remember that motorcycles are expensive in other countries. While some legitimate buyers will send you more money than the bike is worth to seal the deal, it’s generally a red flag when you get more cash than you asked for.

Counterfeit Cheques

You’ll know for sure when they ask for a refund. Usually then you’ll find they’ve sent you a counterfeit cheque and you’ll be out for at least the price of the refund if you send the money.

The Nigerian 419 Scam

Many of these used motorcycles scams come from the same part of the world. Some experts like the professionals at www.usedmotorcycleforsale.ca have come to identify the Nigerian 419 scam by name. Once again this scam involves a fake cashier’s cheque and an overpayment that the would-be thief would like to have returned. This one is just like the other, but it’s got a particular geographic flavor.

The Five Day Trial

Last but not least are those bums who get a deposit from you with the promise that you can try the bike for up to five days and then pass along the rest of the balance. As you might have already imagined, there’s no bike and your deposit and the ’seller’ are gone.

Prevention

Take heart though. An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure and there are things that the aficionado of used motorcycles can do to prevent themselves from getting ripped off.

All the experts suggest that you be very careful of escrow companies. Make sure to research the one that’s suggested thoroughly on Google

If it sounds too good to be true. It is. Period. Bikes that are priced well below the book value are generally scams.

Watch Cashier’s Cheques. One good way to check one out is to email a scanned copy to the bank where it’s drafted from for verification.

Don’t listen to the people who want instant payment through electronic means. Again, they’re more than likely up to no good.

When dealing online remember that unless a close relative is selling you the bike, an offer to buy it out from under auction is usually also a scam.

Learning About Used Motorcycles

Learning About Used Motorcycles

Every used motorcycle has a story, but it is not often that a well-known company has the kind of dramatic story that the Triumph Motorcycles Company has had. Triumph began its long run in 1885 in Coventry, England and was started by Siegfried Bettmann. He originally sold bicycles, but then began making motorcycles. They supplied motorcycles during World War I and supplied the Allies with a way to maneuver during wartime. During World War II, the town of Coventry got hit very hard and was almost destroyed completely, making it a bit difficult for the Triumph Motorcycle company to continue, but continue it did. Used motorcycles can still be found from that era, although they are few and far between.

In 1983, however, things changed for Triumph, and new designers were brought in to change things. These motorcycles were faster and were modeled more after the Japanese style of bikes. When you are looking for Triumph used motorcycles, you need to know which style of bike you like. If you like the classic style, look for motorcycles that are made before 1983. If you’d rather have the newer style, stick to the bikes that started appearing after 1988.

A Real Present is a Used Motorcycles

March 25th, 2008

Present

When I was young, every few years the Easter Bunny would put a brand new bicycle in my house. I always looked forward to getting a new bicycle and putting a few miles on it. As I have gotten older, however, I find myself missing the yearly visit from the Easter Bunny and wish that instead of a new bicycle, he could bring some shiny new BMW motorcycles or any other number of brands of motorcycles wrapped with a bow.

If the Easter Bunny browsed any of the inexpensive used motorcycles that are available online, he may be able to make my wish come true! Used motorcycles are much less expensive than brand new motorcycles, and are just as good, if not better, than a brand new motorcycle, especially if they have been taken care of and babied the way many motorcycles are. I know that, this year, it is too late for the Easter Bunny to bring me a new or used motorcycle, but maybe now that he knows how inexpensive they are, he will be more inclined to gift me with one next year. I only hope the Easter Bunny has access to high speed…

Understanding Used Motorcycles

March 25th, 2008

Understand how it works

Used Motorcycles are extremely misunderstood, especially by those who are just getting into the motorcycle lifestyle or who have only had brand new motorcycles. Some believe that buying a previously owned motorcycle means that you will be getting a motorcycle that is beaten up and is not rideable. In reality, however, used motorcycles can be found of any make or brand that are just like new.

It doesn’t matter whether you are looking for Honda motorcycles or Yamaha motorcycles, as long as you are vigilant and take a little bit of time, you can find a used motorcycle that will suit your tastes, no matter whether it is an old classic or a newer style motorcycle. If fixing up motorcycles is your thing, you can always find used motorcycles that are in need of a little tuning up, or you can buy a newer model used motorcycle and modify it to suit your needs. And for those motorcycles that are no longer able to keep running, their parts can be reused, allowing you to fix up an older, classic motorcycle if you would like, or helping you to save your motorcycle from entering the scrap heap as well.

Avoiding a Loan

March 5th, 2008

I went to the bank the other day and was really surprised at how much I would be paying back if I chose to take out a loan for a motorcycle I was looking at. It was almost like I could have bought two motorcycles when I included in the interest. Outrageous! But then I realized that if I needed to take a loan out to afford the bike, I probably was not doing the right thing for my checkbook. Instead, I turned around and went back to my favorite thing: used motorcycles.

I have always loved used motorcycles, partly because it is nice to find a treasure, and partly because I love to save money. Most of it, however, is probably because I love to find treasures. Finding a used motorcycle that is not only a bargain, but that is a beautiful piece of machinery can truly make my day, especially if it is one that has been babied and taken care of extremely well. If you would like to avoid taking out a loan, try looking at used motorcycles. The prices are low and you can get more than you bargained for.

Making Memories

March 5th, 2008

Some of my best memories were not birthdays or Christmases, but were when I was on my motorcycle, riding around and trying to catch the wind. Motorcycles are not a toy like many people believe them to be, but they are a way to become free. I feel as though riding a motorcycle is the closest you can get to flying without taking to the air, and I know many of my friends who feel the same way. Affording the motorcycle you want, however, can be tricky, especially if you are trying to avoid taking out any loans.

Buying used motorcycles are a great way to achieve your dreams and make your memories easily. Used motorcycles are much more affordable than brand new ones, and many owners feel that used motorcycles, such as used Honda motorcycles or Yamaha motorcycles, run better than the ones just off the showroom, possibly because they have been run until all of the kinks are out. If you would like to make your own memories on your own motorcycle, look to used motorcycles. You will be shocked at the prices you find.
