Sport Bike

I have always had the desire to get a high performance bike, I mean, one that could really scream. These machines are technological marvels and their speed is unmatched. When I drive down the freeway, I can always count on one of these rockets to zip past me. I remember when these bikes first started to become popular. I wanted to jump on the very first one and see what it could do. Of course, you always have to be careful with these bikes because they have such an incredible amount of power, but if you play it safe, you can sure have a lot of fun. Life has taken a different direction for me, and for a long time, owning a sport bike just would not be smart.

Now I am at a point where I can start considering a sport bike, but there is still the issue of the costs. New bikes can range from anywhere between ten thousand and twenty thousand dollars, and I just can not justify that high of a price for a new motorcycle. Because of this, I need to find a good used motorcycle for sale. With a used bike, I can finally afford to realize my dream of owning one of these impressive machines, and there are many places where I can find a good used motorcycle for sale. What I need to find is a good directory of used sports bikes and then I will be on my way.

Buying and Selling Super Sport Bikes

August 27th, 2007

The Super Sport bikes have become the most sought after bikes by the bike enthusiasts. The super sport bikes are ultra-modern and combine the most modern technological advancements. The bikes are great for speed, deceleration and its maneuverability; the super sports bikes thus combined with all these features are becoming more and more popular with bikers. However, if one is going to buy or sell the super sport bike he or she must look for certain things in the bike that will make the deal profitable for the owner. When one is buying super sport bike things like spark plug, compression test, carburetors, coolant system etc must be checked thoroughly.

Things to look for while buying the super sport bike

Checking the spark plug- An examination of the spark plug of the bike will give valuable information about the performance of the bike. Taking out the plug and looking for the different colors formed on its surface will let one know about the condition of the engine. If the color of the plug is black rich or white weak then it is normal but an oily plug indicates a problem also if there is aluminum deposit on the electrode then it is sign of the engine detonation.

Compression tests are not usually allowed while buying the super sport bike. However, if one can check it one must look for the fact that the cylinder compression is in the range of 5% of each other and it matches with the workshop manual. If the compression is not satisfactory then one will have to go in for refilling the pistons, which costs more.

Crankshaft examination reveals more about the condition of the engine. Any damage to the crankcase affects the performance of the engine. In order to determine that the crankshaft runs to its proper specification one can start the motor in the cold position and check if there are any unusual sounds like rattling or knocks.

Carburetors are an important part to check while buying the super sports bike. The carburetor slides must move smoothly up and down. Their improper maintenance would cost the buyer a lot of money to replace them. The improper sliding would result in bad carburetion of the bike.

Checking the coolant system of the bike will make the perfect deal. The engine of the super sports bike is cooled by pure water and no other coolants are specified. Water corrodes the cooling system and thus one must look for minimum corrosion in the cooling system of the bike. There are factors to check like frame, suspension, shock linkage, drive train, and wheels and brakes.

Things to check while selling the bike

One must provide the fine picture of the bike while selling it to the customer. A photo of the bike from the angles will let the buyer know better about its condition. The maintenance details of the bike must be provided to the buyer so that it stands a better chance of selling.

Buying and Selling Sport Bikes

When any person buys a Sport Bike they are looking for speed, acceleration, deceleration, and maneuverability and not comfort capacity to carry luggage or the number of people that the bike can support. Sports Bikes have high performance engines compared to that of a normal bike, resting inside a frame that is also of lightweight to acquire more speed. They will have a combination of high performance break pads and multi-piston calipers that tend to clamp onto the huge and over sized vented rotors in the braking system. For better, increased stability and durability advanced materials along with adjustments are made in terms of the suspension system.

To get better speed while cornering the front tires along with the rear tires are made wider than the normal bikes. This also helps to accommodate better lean angles. Fairings are not always found, it depends upon the likes of the user. It helps in reducing the aerodynamic drag for the rider. Generally the foot pegs are higher than the usual bikes which makes the legs closer and have a lower set of hand controls because of which the body is positioned in such a way that the weight is over the tank.

These bikes are classified into 5 different types according to the different features that they have. The different classes are – Beginner, Super Bike, Hyper Sport, Sport Touring and Sport. As the name suggests the beginners sport bikes with the minimal features help introduce the rider to this sport. This bike can be used by any kind of person. These bikes will carry a maximum weight of 480lb and a minimum of 400lb.The bikes that are popular in this category are Ducati 1098, Honda CBR1000RR and Yamaha YZF –R1.

Hyper sport bikes give maximum emphasis on speed and acceleration and have large displacement. Their engines are powered around 1100cc to 1400cc easily. They are bigger than all the other bikes. This bike can carry a rider being close to 500lb and not more. Some of the bikes in this group are Honda CBR1100XX and BMW K 1200 R.
