It may sound like the start of a really good joke, but it’s actually a serious issue. Many women are treated differently than men are whenever they walk into a motorcycle dealers office. They are looked at as inferior and often the dealer treats them with a huge lack of respect. Most motorcycle dealers, be they a Suzuki, Honda, or Yamaha dealer, are under the misconception that women are only good as passengers.
Times have changed dealers, and you need to wake up and realize that just as many women are buying and riding bikes as men are. Women do, generally, need smaller bikes, as their legs often don’t have the strength to hold up the bike (unless, of course, they’re female bodybuilders), but some men prefer smaller bikes as well. It’s not as though motorcycle dealers need to stock neon pink bikes, as most women are more than happy to have a dark colored bike. The world of motorcycle riding is changing, with women preferring to ride beside their husbands rather than behind, and it’s time that the dealership industry came to realize it. Ladies, if you are not treated with respect by motorcycle dealers, make sure you don’t take it. Instead, start searching at other motorcycle dealerships or online to find the bike of your dream.

Most of us have dreamed, at one point in time or another, of being treated like a celebrity. If you’ve ever watched those celebrity reality shows, you’ll quickly see that a celebrity is treated better than any normal person can ever hope to be treated. They go to the hair dressers and get champagne and strawberries; they walk into a car dealership and the red carpet is rolled out. The truth is that you should be treated like a celebrity the instant you walk into any dealership, whether it is a motorcycle dealers office or a used car dealers office.
Good motorcycle dealers know that the way to a client’s heart is by making them feel special, and what better way to do that than by giving them the celebrity treatment. When you purchase a new or used motorcycle from a motorcycle dealer, it is the experience that will have you either going back for more or ignoring the motorcycle dealer entirely the next time you need a new bike. The next time you walk into a motorcycle dealership, look to be treated like a celebrity. If you’re not, turn around, walk out, and look for a bike elsewhere.

After dealing with the motorcycle and customer service industry for a long time, I believe that I’m pretty knowledgeable on what you should expect the moment you walk into a motorcycle dealers office. In order to make things easy, I’ve complied a list of things that no motorcycle dealer should do. If you experience any of these situations, walk away quickly!
1. The dealer immediately hustles you to the most expensive piece on the floor and won’t bring you to the less expensive items, no matter how clear you make your case.
2. The dealer insults your taste in motorcycles and ridicules the ideas you have for your motorcycle.
3. You are belittled and made to feel as though you don’t matter.
4. It’s easy to tell that the dealer is only worried about the sale and is not worried about making sure that you are happy.
When it comes to dealing with motorcycle dealers, make sure that you are treated like a celebrity. The dealer’s check comes from your pocket, so you should be treated with respect and with dignity from the moment you walk into the door until the minute you leave, whether you sign a contract or not!

How do you feel when you walk into motorcycle dealers? If you’re like me, you probably feel the same way you do when you head to a car dealership. I always feels excited: as though I’m looking to find a treasure. Unfortunately, most of the time I leave the dealership feeling dejected and as though I’m worthless. The big problem with going to a dealership of any kind is that you have to deal with the dealers!
Motorcycle dealers, just like any dealers, generally get paid on commission. If they’re not paid on commission, they are given bonuses for the amount of stock they sell. This is why they push the most expensive piece of machinery that they can on you. All too often, people come out of a motorcycle dealer unhappy and feeling as though they got taken. Generally, they do! Before you start looking for a new motorcycle, do your homework. You can usually discover what a valid price for a used or new motorcycle is online, and you may even find one that you will want to purchase and have shipped to you! The rule of the day: never walk into the dealership blind, as the dealer will likely try to help you walk into a wall.

A friend of mine was looking to buy a used motorcycle a few weeks ago. He had owned his Yamaha since college and felt that it was time to retire the machine before it broke down on him during a long trip. He confided in me that he was going to be looking for a motorcycle and wanted me to go along with him to some motorcycle dealers. I have to say that I was shocked at what I saw.
The first motorcycle dealer we went to was, of course, a Yamaha dealer. The seller was shocked at the age of my friend’s old Yamaha and actually admonished him for keeping it around! Insulted, my friend herded us to a number of other dealers, including a Suzuki dealer and a Honda dealer. The other two treated him with a bit more finesse, but none of them seemed interested in actually listening to the type of motorcycle my friend truly wanted; they were more concerned with getting the largest commission that they possibly could. Fortunately, my friend has high-speed and after a few hours of looking online, was able to find exactly what he was looking for. Now if only I can convince him to sell his old Yamaha for parts, he’d actually be able to fit his new motorcycle in the garage!

Those of us that ride tend to make friends that ride, which means that we start believing that most of the world jumps on a motorcycle now and again. The truth, however, becomes clear when it’s time to go looking for a new motorcycle. If you live in a rural area, you may have a difficult time even finding a motorcycle dealer! Motorcycle dealers are sparse enough in large cities, but they’re almost non-existent when you live in a rural area. You may have to drive a few hours away just to find a motorcycle that you like, and if you want to purchase the bike at that point, you’d better hope that you brought someone with you, or you’re looking at another long ride back.
People that live in rural areas tend to do more research and purchasing online than they do at a motorcycle dealers office. Not only does this give them a much larger selection of bikes, but it helps them to get a good idea of what type of motorcycle they would like this time and where they can get it. If you’re in a rural area, try doing some online research. You may be surprised at how much you can learn, and the great deals you can find.

When you start going out and looking at motorcycles, you may be surprised at the different kinds of motorcycle dealers you will discover. There are some motorcycle dealers who may remind you of a sleezy used car salesman, while there are others who will make you feel as though you are not good enough to frequent their establishment. It is very rare that you’ll be able to find a motorcycle dealer that make you feel content and that is not pushing you to purchase something that you don’t want.
This is why so many people choose to purchase their motorcycles away from dealerships. They don’t want to feel the pressure that dealers often exhibit, whether they know it or not. Sure, it’s nice to be able to sit down in a comfy chair and talk with someone who knows motorcycles, but in the end, will they give you a good deal for your sake, or will they try to make the biggest commission off of you that they can? When you’re ready for your next motorcycle, do what makes you feel comfortable. If you enjoy sitting in a motorcycle dealer’s office, go for it; but if you’re more interested in finding a good deal so you can get on the road quicker, you may want to avoid the dealer’s office entirely.
